Background and Experience

I have a Master of Science in Organizational Psychology which has deepened my understanding of human behavior in the workplace. I also hold a Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR) certification from HRCI.

My professional experience spans over 20 years working in a diverse range of industries and roles, including as a public school teacher. After several years of bouncing between jobs and fields, I found my way into Human Resources and discovered my professional passion: cultivating great work cultures where all employees can thrive. I have worked at Fortune 100 companies, and with Fortune 500 clients, where I gained invaluable insights into recruiting, talent management, career development, leadership coaching, compensation strategies, and more. Now, I want to use this knowledge to empower YOU.

Special areas of focus: Coaching new people managers / newly promoted senior leaders, career transitions (particularly helping teachers break into the private sector), and providing guidance on accelerating career advancement and promotions.

FAQs

  • While both coaching and mental health counseling involve supportive relationships and aim to empower individuals, their approaches and objectives differ significantly.

Coaching primarily focuses on personal and professional development, while counseling addresses psychological and emotional issues. Coaches have a variety of backgrounds, experiences, and credentials, while counselors hold advanced degrees and are licensed. Counseling involves clinical interventions, whereas coaching does not.

It is important for you to understand your own needs to determine which professional would be most appropriate to address your specific concerns.

  • Organizational psychology, also known as industrial-organizational psychology, is a field that focuses on understanding human behavior in the workplace and applying psychological principles to enhance organizational effectiveness, employee well-being, and productivity.

In the context of career coaching, organizational psychology provides a holistic understanding of the workplace environment to guide clients through career exploration and transitions, enhancing self-awareness, optimizing performance and productivity, and supporting leadership development. Through a multidimensional approach applying organizational psychology principles and my HR experience, I aim to empower you to thrive in your career and achieve your professional goals.

Disclaimer: As a career coach with a Master's degree in Organizational Psychology, I am not a licensed clinician or psychologist. My services focus on career development and professional growth, and do not involve clinical therapy or psychological counseling. For mental health concerns, it is recommended to seek the services of a licensed mental health professional or psychologist who can provide appropriate clinical care.

  • The time it takes for you to see results in career coaching can vary based on factors such as your goals, commitment, complexity of your situation, and your individual circumstances. While some clients may experience positive changes early on, more substantial and long-lasting results may require longer coaching. Active participation, implementation of strategies, and consistent effort outside of our coaching sessions are crucial for progress. Setbacks and challenges can occur along the way. It is my role to provide support and guidance to help you navigate these obstacles and stay on track.

  • I follow a collaborative approach that combines widely accepted coaching principles and practices with my own style and expertise. My goal is to create a safe and supportive space for you to explore your challenges and aspirations. By actively listening and asking questions, I will help you gain clarity and challenge limiting beliefs. I aim to empower you to make informed decisions and achieve your professional aspirations.

For 1:1 coaching services, coaching engagements will begin with an initial consultation and discovery session to help me understand your background, challenges, and aspirations. Based on this conversation, we will work together to determine the right strategies and solutions for you. My goal is not to try to solve your problems or dictate an agenda, but rather to help you gain the clarity and focus you need to build actionable steps towards achieving your goals.

Level up your career, today.
